Wally was named Assistant Golf Professional at Eagle Chase Golf Club in October 1996. In April, 1997 Wally was named General Manager/Head Golf Professional at ECGC.

In February 2001, he was elected to The Professional Golfers Association of America.

Wally attended Anderson University on a golf scholarship, where he was a member of the All Conference Golf team in 1976 and 1977. He also received the Anderson Golf team Sportsmanship Award in 1976.

Before turning professional, Wally won a total of 5 Club Championships at 2 different clubs.

Wally was the golf coach for his two sons. They both received golf scholarships. Sean, his youngest, received a scholarship from Wake Forest University, where he won the ACC Championship as a freshman, in 2004. Sean was also the North South Amateur Champion at Pinehurst, NC. in 2006.
